The Bascom Family | Charleston Park Family Session on Lake Lanier

Family standing beneath trees during a Charleston Park family session

There is something so special about summer evenings on Lake Lanier, especially when the weather finally decides to cooperate! After a week full of rain and constantly watching the forecast, I was so excited that the clouds cleared and we were able to make this beautiful family session happen with the Bascom family at Charleston Park on Lake Lanier as a Cumming Georgia Photographer!

The Bascom family was incredibly flexible and gracious throughout all of the weather-related rescheduling, and it could not have worked out more perfectly. The evening brought soft light, cooler temperatures (even if it was a little humid still!!), and even a little sunshine peeking through the clouds. It truly felt like the sweetest reward after such a rainy week!

We started our session exploring the open fields and tree-lined paths throughout Charleston Park. The kids had so much fun running through the grass, laughing together, and simply enjoying being a family. Some of my favorite moments from the evening weren’t the perfectly posed photos, but the silly faces, funny interactions, and genuine laughter that naturally unfolded as we wandered around the park.

One of the things I love most about family photography is capturing families exactly as they are in this season of life. The Bascom family made that so easy. Their joy, patience, and love for one another were evident throughout the entire session, creating photographs that feel authentic and full of life.

As the sun began to dip lower in the sky, we made our way down to the shoreline of Lake Lanier. The light became soft and golden, creating the dreamiest backdrop for the final part of our session. We kicked off our shoes, played in the sand, searched for shells along the shore, and dipped our toes in the water. The kids loved every second of it, and honestly, so did the adults!

Those final moments by the lake felt like something out of a summer memory, simple, carefree, and full of connection. Watching the family laugh together while the gentle waves rolled onto the shore was the perfect way to end such a magical evening.

Bascom family, thank you for trusting me to capture these memories for you! It was such a joy spending the evening together, and I’m so grateful we were able to find the perfect night after all of the rain. Your family is absolutely darling, and I loved documenting this sweet season of life for you.

If you’re looking for a family photographer in North Georgia or planning a family session at Charleston Park on Lake Lanier, I’d love to help you, at Amanda Jenkins Photography, create beautiful memories together!
