Hello and welcome to the blog!
I love sharing personal stories, recent sessions, recent weddings, tips & tricks for family sessions, tips for my brides and your wedding day, outfit suggestions, location ideas & suggestions, my husband and I, personal things about me and my little family, and some of the behind-the-scenes of being a photographer.
Feel free to take a look around and stay a while!

Planning your wedding comes with a million decisions, and choosing your photographer is one of the biggest ones. As a Dallas–Fort Worth Wedding Photographer serving couples in both Texas and North Georgia, I’ve seen how much peace comes from knowing the right questions to ask your wedding photographer before you book. Your photographer is with you more than almost anyone else on your wedding day, through all the behind-the-scenes moments, to your big moments. You want someone who feels aligned, prepared, and invested in your story!
Here are the questions I always encourage couples to ask, whether you’re inquiring with me or someone else.
Every photographer sees the world a little differently. Some focus heavily on posed portraits, others lean fully documentary, and many (like me) blend both. You want to look through full galleries, not just Instagram highlights, to see how a photographer captures real moments from start to finish. Throughout all moments of the day!
Ask to see an entire wedding gallery so you can see how they handle lighting changes, family portraits, reception moments, and those quiet in-between memories.
A good photographer doesn’t just show up and take photos, they help shape your timeline. Ask how they structure the day to ensure you get natural light, time for portraits, sunset portrait timing, and space to breathe. Timelines are a big deal since it’s the schedule you follow for your special day, this is an important question to ask your photographer!
As a Dallas–Fort Worth Wedding Photographer, I build custom timelines (I even have a spot for Civil & LDS Weddings to build an example timeline on my Wedding Experience Page) for every couple so the day flows beautifully and nothing feels rushed. The right timeline makes a huge difference in how your photos feel.
This might not be the most glamorous question, but it’s important. Ask about backup equipment, memory cards, and contingency plans. A professional photographer should have multiple camera bodies, extra lenses, and redundant storage systems.
After every wedding, I back up images to multiple drives before I even go to bed that night, and sometimes even before I leave the wedding. Your memories deserve to be protected and safe, all the time. This is an a great example of questions to ask your wedding photographer so ensure your images are backed up!
Delivery timelines and gallery size vary widely. Ask what you can realistically expect and how long editing takes. Most photographers have this in their contracts, Wedding Experience offers in their packages, or FAQ section before you book with them!
Wedding photography is detailed work. Color correcting, culling, and refining hundreds (sometimes thousands) of images takes time. Make sure expectations are clear on both sides.
This can be helpful, but it’s not required. A strong photographer knows how to read light in any environment, even places that are new. Experience matters more than familiarity with one specific venue.
If your photographer hasn’t shot there before, ask how they prepare. I often arrive pretty early to explore the space and find the best lighting opportunities before guests arrive. Let them know if you have any favorite spots around the venue and they can help you know if that spot is good for lighting or if a better location will be more flattering for shadows and showing all the details! Wedding photographer questions like this are very helpful!
Engagement sessions are more important than most couples realize. They help you feel comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding day and allow you to build trust with your photographer.
That comfort translates directly into more natural, relaxed wedding portraits.
As a Dallas–Fort Worth Wedding Photographer, I include engagement sessions in many of my collections because I truly believe they set the foundation for the entire experience.
At the end of the day, connection matters most. You will spend more time with your photographer than almost anyone else on your wedding day. If you feel relaxed, understood, and genuinely cared for, your photos will reflect that.
Ask yourself:
Do we feel heard?
Do we trust their guidance and opinions completely?
Do we love how they capture emotion?
Your wedding photos become part of your legacy. Choose someone who treats them that way!
