There is just something SO fun about engagement photos at the Fort Worth Stockyards, and Cara and Christian’s session made me love this little corner of Fort Worth even more!! Between the gorgeous trees, historic buildings, western charm, and the cutest little streets throughout the Stockyards, we had so much variety to work with during their August engagement session!
Cara and Christian are one of my sweet wedding #AJPCouples and #AJPBride, and I genuinely cannot wait to photograph their wedding day this October!! Cara is truly the sweetest, and these two are just the most darling couple together. Getting to spend an evening walking around the Fort Worth Stockyards with them made me even more excited for their wedding day!

Am Engagement Session with Variety
One of my favorite things about choosing the Fort Worth Stockyards for engagement photos is just how much variety you can get without having to travel all over DFW. You can go from beautiful greenery and huge trees to historic Fort Worth architecture, western storefronts, brick buildings, and some of the most iconic spots in the Stockyards, all within one engagement session!
We started Cara and Christian’s session underneath the prettiest big, wide tree. It gave us the dreamiest greenery and was such a sweet, relaxed place to start before we made our way further into the Stockyards!
They also brought along the cutest little details to personalize their engagement photos, which I absolutely loved. I always tell my couples that their engagement session should feel like them, and bringing something personal is such a fun way to make your gallery even more meaningful.
From there, we wandered toward a little bridge and fence before making our way closer to all of the classic Fort Worth Stockyards scenery. We found more gorgeous trees along the way with little glimpses of Fort Worth in the background, which gave their photos such a pretty mix of nature and city.
Engagement Photos at Hotel Drover
Of course, if you are taking engagement photos in the Fort Worth Stockyards, we had to make our way toward the iconic Hotel Drover!
The area surrounding Hotel Drover is one of my favorite parts of the Stockyards because it has such a beautiful, elevated western feel. It was the perfect backdrop for Cara and Christian and gave us another completely different look within their gallery.
We took some of the cutest (!!!) photos around Hotel Drover and the surrounding Stockyards area before continuing our little adventure!
And honestly, that is one of my favorite ways to photograph engagement sessions. We absolutely have a plan, but I also love walking around with my couples, seeing what catches my eye, finding unexpected pockets of pretty light, and creating photos somewhere we might not have originally planned!
Sometimes those little unexpected spots end up being some of my favorites!

Exploring the Fort Worth Stockyards
After Hotel Drover, we found this gorgeous little tunnel of trees that was SO cute for photos before making our way over to the historic Fort Worth Livestock Exchange Building.
By this point, the sun was starting to go down and we were getting into that dreamy end-of-the-evening light. The Livestock Exchange ended up being one of the cutest backdrops for a bunch of their engagement photos!
While Cara and Christian changed into their second outfit, I grabbed their engagement ring and photographed some ring details. I love using engagement sessions as an opportunity to photograph the ring because it is such a special little piece of this season of life, and let’s be real, I will never say no to pretty ring photos!!
Once they were changed, we took even more photos around the Livestock Exchange Building. We found some adorable barrels, trees, and little corners around the area that gave us even more variety!
This is exactly why the Stockyards is such a great engagement photo location in Fort Worth. There is genuinely something different around every corner.

Fort Worth Engagement Photos
As it started getting darker, we made our way toward Stockyards Station and the main shopping area of the Fort Worth Stockyards.
I love incorporating recognizable pieces of a location into engagement galleries, especially when we are somewhere as iconic as the Stockyards. We were able to photograph Cara and Christian near the Stockyards Station sign, some of the storefronts, and even found the cutest little silo to use as another backdrop with the train tracks near by!
By the end of the night, we had photographed everything from greenery and trees to western architecture, historic Fort Worth buildings, downtown Stockyards scenery, and some of the most recognizable spots in the area. So much variety from one location!! And somehow, every single part of it felt like Cara and Christian!
Why Choose the Fort Worth Stockyards for Engagement Photos?
If you’re looking for engagement photo locations in Fort Worth, Texas, the Stockyards are such a fun option, especially if you want something with a little more personality than a traditional park or field!
The Fort Worth Stockyards are perfect for couples who love a western or Texas-inspired feel but still want their engagement photos to feel timeless, romantic, and elevated. You can incorporate greenery, historic architecture, rustic textures, iconic Fort Worth landmarks, Hotel Drover, Stockyards Station, the Livestock Exchange Building, and so many little hidden spots in between.
It is also such a fun location if you want to bring two outfits! Changing outfits can completely transform the feel of your photos without needing to drive to an entirely different location.
Cara & Christian
More than anything, though, this session was just so fun with one of my couples!
Cara and Christian are the loveliest couple, and getting to photograph this season for them makes me so happy! Engagement sessions are one of my favorite parts of the wedding experience because it gives us time together before the wedding day to get comfortable in front of the camera, have some fun, and create photos that celebrate this really sweet in-between season!
And now I am somehow even MORE excited for their October wedding!!
Cara and Christian, thank you for trusting me to capture your engagement photos and for making this August evening at the Fort Worth Stockyards so much fun. You two are truly the cutest, and I cannot wait to celebrate you all over again on your WEDDING DAY!!! Yayy!!!!!!
