There is something so romantic about engagement photos at Adriatica Village in McKinney, Texas! With beautiful European-inspired architecture, water views, stone details, bridges, greenery, and the gorgeous chapel in the background, Adriatica Village is one of my favorite engagement photo locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. It gives you so much variety within one location and feels like you stepped into a little European village right in North Texas.

This Adriatica Village engagement session was extra sweet because these two are truly some of the kindest people! They have the biggest smiles, are so much fun to be around, and made the entire evening feel effortless. I am already counting down the days until their January wedding and cannot wait to photograph their bridal session before then!

A Romantic Engagement Session at Adriatica Village in McKinney

We started their engagement photos near the water and one of the little bridges throughout Adriatica Village. The sun was still peeking through when we began, giving us beautiful light as we walked around the village and captured some of their first photos together.

From there, we moved underneath the trees, where we could incorporate the chapel into the background. One of my favorite things about taking engagement photos at Adriatica Village is how many completely different looks you can create without having to drive to another location. Within a short walk, you can go from greenery and trees to waterfront views, stone architecture, bridges, and European-inspired buildings.

We continued exploring the area, using the chapel, water, and surrounding architecture to create a gallery that felt romantic, joyful, and full of variety.

Beating the Texas Storm

As their engagement session continued, we could see the clouds beginning to roll in.

North Texas had been waiting on rain after a stretch of dry weather, and of course, the storm decided to make its way toward McKinney during their engagement photos! Thankfully, we had just enough time to finish the session before the rain arrived. What a blessing, and they were troupers!

And the changing weather ended up giving us such a beautiful variety of light throughout their gallery. We started with sunshine and slowly transitioned into softer, cloudier light as the storm approached. It made the entire evening feel a little extra memorable, and we officially beat the rain!

A Quick Outfit Change + Engagement Ring Photos

About halfway through their Adriatica Village engagement session, they changed into their second outfits for a more relaxed, casual look.

While they were changing, I took a few minutes to photograph her gorgeous engagement ring. I absolutely love incorporating little details like this into engagement galleries. Your engagement ring is such a meaningful part of this season of your life, and it deserves its own moment too!

After their outfit change, we headed back out for more photos around Adriatica Village. Their casual outfits gave the second half of the session a completely different feel while still keeping everything cohesive.

This is one reason I love when couples bring two outfits to their engagement session. Choosing one dressier outfit and one more casual outfit can give you so much variety while still allowing your photos to feel like you!

The best part about engagement sessions is getting to spend time with my couples before their wedding day. It gives us a chance to get comfortable together, learn what feels natural in front of the camera, and create beautiful photos that celebrate this season before you’re officially married!

These two made that especially easy. They are genuinely some of the sweetest people, and their joy comes through so naturally in their photos. I cannot wait to have them in front of my camera again for their bridal session and then celebrate alongside them at their January wedding!
