Some engagement sessions just feel magical from the very beginning, and Sydney and Andrew’s session at Berry College was exactly that. Between the golden sunset glow, birds flying around us, deer wandering through the fields, and these two laughing the entire evening, it honestly felt like something straight out of a movie!

I’ve known Sydney since middle school, so getting to reconnect after all these years and photograph this season of her life was so special to me! Meeting Andrew made it even sweeter because he is just as kind, joyful, and easygoing as Sydney is. You can tell instantly how naturally they fit together and just how joyful they are together. They told me they met three years ago, and ever since then, they’ve basically been best friends who never stop laughing!

And honestly… that joy made this entire session so effortless!

A Golden Hour Session at Berry College

We started their engagement session walking through some of my favorite areas of Berry College while the sunset slowly filtered through the trees. Berry always has the prettiest soft light, but this evening felt extra dreamy. The skies were glowy, the air was calm, and everywhere we turned felt beautiful.

One of my favorite parts of the evening was how many little unexpected moments happened throughout the session. Birds kept flying around us, deer wandered nearby almost the entire time, and Sydney and Andrew just embraced every second of it. They trusted me fully, were down for every fun idea, and made every moment feel so natural!

They twirled in the open fields, laughed down paths, walked hand in hand through the grass, laughed through almost every pose, and somehow made even the in-between moments look beautiful. Those are always my favorite sessions, the ones that don’t feel overly posed or forced, but instead feel like a date night with photos woven into it.

Sessions like Sydney and Andrew’s are such a reminder of why I love what I do so much. It’s never just about “taking photos.” It’s about documenting a season that goes by so quickly, preserving the joy, excitement, and little moments that couples will want to remember years from now.

These two made my job so easy because they were fully themselves the entire evening. They laughed constantly, made each other feel comfortable, and genuinely enjoyed being together. As a photographer, those are the moments I’m always looking for, connection over perfection.
